Secure device communication for Suite & browsers

Connect your Trezor reliably—keep confirmations on the device you hold.

Trezor Bridge is a small background service that lets desktop apps and supported browsers communicate with your Trezor hardware wallet. It doesn’t hold coins or store secrets—its job is to help your computer find the device, so you confirm every sensitive action on the hardware screen.

What is Trezor Bridge?

Bridge is the secure connector between your Trezor hardware wallet and software like Trezor Suite (desktop or web). It runs locally, enabling reliable device detection and message passing while your private keys remain sealed inside the device. Think of it as a driver built for self‑custody.

Local & lightweight: Installs in minutes and runs quietly in the background.
Device‑first security: Addresses and amounts must match on the hardware display.
Cross‑platform: Works with Windows, macOS, and Linux.

How it works

After installation, Bridge launches automatically when needed. Apps connect to it locally; it handles secure USB messaging with your Trezor. Sensitive approvals still happen on the device screen, preventing malware from silently authorizing transfers you didn’t confirm.

Discovery: Suite or a supported site asks Bridge, “Is a device connected?”
Session: When you unlock with your PIN (and optional passphrase), a session opens.
Confirmation: Every address, message, or transaction is shown on your hardware display first.

Install in six clear steps

  1. 1) Go to the official page: Type trezor.io/start directly—avoid mirrors.
  2. 2) Download: Choose the Bridge installer for your OS.
  3. 3) Close apps: Quit Suite and browsers to prevent conflicts.
  4. 4) Run installer: Allow permissions if prompted; Bridge sets itself up.
  5. 5) Reopen Suite/web: Bridge launches in the background automatically.
  6. 6) Connect & verify: Plug in your Trezor, unlock it, and verify receive addresses on the device screen.

Troubleshooting: quick wins

Not detected? Reinstall Bridge, try another USB port/cable, restart Suite.
Browser conflicts? Use a clean profile, disable suspicious extensions, or move to Desktop Suite.
Permissions blocked? On macOS/Linux, allow the service/daemon if prompted; on Windows, confirm driver permissions.
Address mismatch? Stop. Only trust addresses that match on the hardware display.

FAQ

Is Bridge required for everyone?

Not always. Desktop Suite can communicate directly on many systems. The official installer or web flow will prompt you if Bridge is recommended for your setup.

Does Bridge ever see my recovery seed?

No. The seed and private keys never leave your hardware wallet. Bridge only facilitates local communication; approvals happen on the device screen.

Do I need my recovery seed to install Bridge?

No. The seed is for wallet recovery after a reset or device loss. Keep it offline on paper or steel—never in the cloud.

Can I uninstall Bridge later?

Yes. If your environment no longer needs it, uninstall it from your OS settings. Suite will prompt again if it becomes necessary.
